AWARD at the CCAM brokerage day and super-charged Multicluster meeting 2024

This March, the AWARD project was featured prominently at the pivotal CCAM brokerage day and super-charged Multicluster meeting held in Brussels. Holger Loewendorf of IRU delivered insights on AWARD during a panel discussion that illuminated the synergies and challenges within the CCAM (Connected, Cooperative, and Automated Mobility) landscape.

The two-day event, organized by the CCAM Association, brought together key stakeholders from across Europe. The first day centered on networking and detailed discussions about the CCAM Horizon Europe Work Programme for 2024, set to open for project submissions later this year. The focus was on fostering collaborations that could drive forward the ambitious goals of the program.

The second day’s Multicluster meeting was particularly crucial. It was dedicated to preparing for future large-scale demonstration calls for projects and exploring potential cooperation with other Horizon Europe partnerships. During the event’s second session, moderated by Mats Rosenquist from Volvo Group (CCAM Cluster 1 Leader), notable industry figures including Pier Camillo Carrescia (Autostrade per l’Italia), Laura Babio (POLIS), Fernando Liesa (ALICE), Aria Etemad (Volkswagen), Arwed Schmidt (EasyMile), and Holger Loewendorf (IRU), along with CCAM vice chairman, Hamid Zarghampour (Trafikverket), engaged in a spirited panel discussion.

The panel explored diverse CCAM use cases, focusing on both highway and urban mobility. Discussions underscored the complexity of ensuring that all CCAM services and applications operate in unison—a task likened to “repairing the plane while it’s flying” by Hamid. Aria Etemad emphasized the necessity of adopting a systemic rather than merely sectorial perspective within the CCAM partnership to achieve holistic progress.
