AWARD at the Transport Research Arena in Dublin 2024

Last week, the AWARD project team made a significant impact at the Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2024 in Dublin, demonstrating our commitment to advancing the field of autonomous heavy-duty vehicles within logistics. The theme of TRA2024 was ‘Transport Transitions: Advancing Sustainable and Inclusive Mobility’.TRA takes place in Dublin, from Monday 15 to Thursday 18 April, and is Europe’s leading transport event covering all modes of transport and all aspects of mobility. It is Europe’s largest research and technology conference on transport and mobility.

Networking and Collaborative Opportunities

Throughout the conference, representatives from the AWARD consortium, such as Magali Jouve (CARA Transport & Mobility Systems), Mads Skovsgaard Rasmussen (DFDS), Arwed Schmidt (EasyMile), Ragnhild Wahl (ITS Norway) and Bin Hu (AIT Austrian Institute of Technology) participated in discussions that fostered deep connections and shared insights. Notably, EasyMile, our project coordinator, featured a counter-top display and a video at the European Commission’s booth, further highlighting the AWARD project’s innovations.

The interactions at TRA24 were not limited to presentations. Our team engaged in valuable exchanges with participants and other European projects like MODI Project and PoDIUM Project opened fascinating dialogues with several organizations, signaling strong potential for future collaborations, and industry colleagues from ALICE. These discussions underscored the collaborative spirit of the event and enhanced the collective understanding of current challenges and advancements in the transport sector.

A Deep Dive into Autonomous Logistics

The event was marked by a standout presentation on April 17th from Dr. Loha Hashimy of ENIDE, who detailed the AWARD project’s exploration into “Autonomous heavy-duty vehicles in logistics: market trends, opportunities, and barriers.” This presentation, part of session TS 4.3.6 on Freight and Logistic Operations and Fleet Management, with an audience of more than 50, offered crucial insights into the challenges and potential of implementing autonomous logistics at scale.
