On the 5th of July 2022, AWARD took part in Automotive 2022 in Linz, Austria: Domestic automotive industry shapes the mobility of tomorrow: locally developed, globally successful, sustainably produced.<\/em><\/strong><\/a> With the impending end of combustion engines in Europe, fragile supply chains, and material and personnel shortages \u2013 there is currently no shortage of challenges for the automotive industry and its suppliers. At the “Automotive 2022”<\/i> industry conference organized by Business Upper Australia<\/a> (one of the partners of the AWARD H2020 project), at the Oberbank Donau Forum in Linz, 140 company representatives discussed solutions and future opportunities all the more intensively.\u00a0<\/p>

“We are in a boxing ring full of complex challenges,”<\/strong><\/em> says Florian Danmayr, manager of the Automotive Cluster Upper Austria<\/a>,<\/strong> summing up the mood in the industry. However, there are many positive things to report in these challenging times: “Not a single one of the 280 partner companies of the automotive cluster has had to close down in recent years because everyone \u2013 from employees to top managers \u2013 has used the strengths of the location: use the existing know-how, show commitment, contribute creative, innovative ideas and put them into practice…The biggest challenge will probably be to find the right qualified employees,” he concluded.<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

On behalf of DigiTrans GmbH<\/strong><\/a>, the partner at the AWARD H2020<\/strong> project, Eva Tatschl-Unterberger<\/a> spoke about the potential and the international status quo of automated driving and the R&D investments that are necessary to help shape automation as a player: How far are we from automated freight and passenger transport? What challenges stand in the way of the implementation and testing of automated driving functions and how can we meet them sensibly?<\/em><\/strong><\/div>\n

Digitrans whose main task with the AWARD project is the testing and deployment of automated and autonomous vehicles and driving functions with a focus on logistic and heavy-duty vehicle transport, both in a closed test environment and on public roads, presented AWARD under the title of<\/span> Automotive 2022: <\/em><\/strong>local-global-sustainable <\/em>–<\/strong> best answers for future transport.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Business Upper Austria \u2013 O\u00d6 Wirtschaftsagentur GmbH – The Upper Austrian Economic development agency (BIZ-UP)<\/a><\/strong> plays a central role in the AWARD H2020 project as the province’s official business agency. As a promoter of regional innovation through strategies, investment, cluster\/network management and funding, BIZUP pitched the AWARD H2020 project during the Automotive 2022: local-global-sustainable conference<\/em>, emphasizing the expected positive project outcomes related to innovation, safety, competitiveness and replicability. The department Clusterland is BIZUP\u2018s centre of competence for cross-company cooperation in Upper Austria initiating potential cooperation with companies, research facilities and intermediaries. <\/strong><\/div>\n
