AWARD workshop #3

Automation in freight transport & logistics: the role of legislation in autonomous vehicles

Are you interested in delving into the latest policies surrounding the automation of vehicles in the logistics sector?

IRU is set to host a workshop to present recommendations for updated legislation regarding the testing and deployment of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) in logistics. The primary objective of this workshop is to introduce policy recommendations generated by our project partners. Anticipate a robust discussion encompassing the legislative framework for both AV testing and operation, extending not only to Europe but also beyond its borders. Our overarching goal is to solicit input from legislators and pertinent stakeholders, all while underlining the imperative need for refreshed legislation.

The AWARD project encompasses a comprehensive analysis of current legislation at various levels, including European, UNECE, and country levels (across European Member States, USA, Canada, Israel, etc.). Furthermore, we’ve scrutinised different standards and pertinent projects. The testing of autonomous vehicles poses distinct challenges, with legislation playing a pivotal role in facilitating existing technology and cultivating insights for future vehicle deployment. The AWARD project has undertaken an in-depth review of existing legislation and has generated recommendations covering critical aspects that influence the deployment of AVs in logistics scenarios.

This workshop is a closed event with a limited number of participants.
